Why you should ... watch Victoria

Queen Victoria1819 – 1901, the first British monarch to have her life documented in photos, served by over 33 prime ministers in her 63 years of reign

Remembering Downton Abbey I immediately started watching all episodes that were available of Victoria (and mind you there weren't many) and have since impatiently been waiting for the next episode. Every. Single. Week. (sweet torture)
Being absolutely hooked I have no criticism whatsoever (well except airing them more than once and make more episodes, seriously, please)
The title should basically explain the story. In the pilot episode Victoria succeeds her uncle William IV to the throne. As time goes by she maneuvers and forms alliances, makes mistakes, falls in love, shows leniency and a poker face.
The show not only focuses on Victoria (although being of course in the centre of attention as the protagonist) but also - like in Downton - introduces you to the people downstairs aka the staff. Miss Skerret intrigues and we smile when we see that Penge has had a history and was after all young.
I adore the cast, especially Jenna Coleman as Victoria who I have come to love in Doctor Who and Me before you.
Eve Myles (Torchwood - a Doctor Who spin-off) has a minor role as the head dress maker but still mention-worthy.
But more importantly Rufus Sewell as the Prime Minister Lord Melbourne (!) who wasn't a household name to me before (only vaguely remembering him from The Holiday). But not so now - he's fairly close to becoming my new obsession. His relationship with the Queen makes me happy and his voice melt.
Of course, the historical correctness might not be a hundred percent accurate (the romance between Victoria and Lord M is in no way founded) but why do I watch these kind of series? Not to be educated but entertained (or let's say edutained).
Another aspect I would like to mention is the music - I am absolutely in love with the intro music and can't wait until the soundtrack/film music comes out.

Obviously, I'm very proud of having discovered this treasure so early on, however the wait for each episode ... well you probably know the struggle.

Au revoir, little biscuits (*squeaking with delight whenever Lord M/Rufus Sewell comes into view*)

UPDATE:
second season not as good as the first one, would not recommend
