More snow, more mountains, more hot chocolate. My chance to improve my skiing skills and my chance to have a nice crash with one of my best friends^^ (nothing severe happened)
Again, it's been a while since we drove there (a very long trip!), so I'm afraid I can't write a lot about it because I don't remember that much.
I went with my dad, a very good friend and her dad to the lovely town Mürren.
the mountains Jungrau (virgin), Mönch (monk) and Eiger (from right to left) |
Lets start on the left. It's the ‘Eiger’. Derived from the Middle High German word ‘Hej-Gêr’ it translates to ‘high peak’.
The name of the mountain in the middle doesn't actually refer to the monks but to horses, geldings which grazed at the foot of the mountain in summer. These geldings were called ‘Münche’, thus, the mountain was called ‘Münchberg’ and later abbreviated to ‘Münch’ or ‘Mönch’.
The ‘Jungfrau’ was probably named by the nuns of Interlaken after the ‘Wengernalp’ at the foot of the mountain and the alp was called ‘Jungfrauenberg’ (virgin mountain).
And more mountains
And that was all from me for now,
au revoir, little biscuits *sprinkle of snowflakes*
