Music, dresses, parties - those were the roaring twenties. But what lurked behind the scenes? What was behind the golden and glitz?
Murder. Corruption. Intrigue.
Flirty, self-confident, snappy and unbelievably stylish Phryne Fisher starts investigating a murder and meets Detective Inspector Jack Robinson who immediately dismisses her because her being a woman, of course.
After a while, however, they become a team, their chemistry basically bringing the show to a whole nother level. They meet murderers and murdereresses with very different motives. Be it jealousy or love, revenge or greed.
The cast consists mostly of fairly unkown Australian actors such as Ashleigh Cummings who portrays Phryne's companion Dorothy. She starts out as a shy young woman and develops into so much more, as well as a blossoming love for constable Collins. Also definitely worth a mention is Phyrne's aunt Prudence who is played by the well-known English actress Miriam Margolyes and brings a lot of experience and humour to this role.
This series is so much fun and especially if you liked Sherlock, this is something for you. And, of course, if you like a good murder mystery.
