rain, rain go away ...

... come again another day!

No, no. I like the rain. I am what you may call a "pluviophile". (and believe me, people have laughed and raised their eyebrows but I really do enjoy the rain).
It's an afternoon in the middle of the week and if it weren't for the summer holidays (which start in two days) I would be sitting around in my room studying and doing my homework. But as a matter of fact, I am sitting in my room watching Friends, so yeah ... spot the difference?
But I thought about the things you can do when it rains and here they are (drum roll)

  • call somebody you haven't talked to in a while (and choose somebody to whom you can really talk and not just wait in uncomfortable silence until you talk about the weather)
  • play games (e.g. board games, I know they're possibly not "cool" but who doesn't enjoy a good laugh with Apples to Apples or Cards against Humanity? Other good games are Ligretto, Dobble, yes!/no!, or if you have a Wii or an Xbox ... it can bring out your ambitious side and can sometimes lead to drama but it's fun anyway ;))
  • go outside (put on your welly boots and a rain jacket and perhaps take your umbrella and take some pictures in the rain, jump in puddles and you'll feel young again ;D)
  • play an instrument (I could spend hours playing the piano no matter what the weather is like but especially if it's cold and dull outside I am drawn to my musical equipment^^. If you don't play an instrument why not consider starting? Once you've started and made some progress you'll have a lot of fun and voluntarily spend time doing it.)
  • cook a nice meal (Why not surprise somebody with a nice three or four-course dinner? It takes up quite some time to make it but it will be worth it. As long as you don't mess it up.)
  • or bake something nice (maybe some cupcakes which can also take up some time or biscuits or cake pops or cake or pie or scones or ... a sweet tooth speaking of experience :D)
  • go shopping (probably more a girly thing. and in a centre that is sheltered of some sort would be better unless you enjoy running from one shop to the next and (if clothes shopping) getting your hair to not leave marks on clothes and having to take your umbrella in one hand and maybe even forgetting it and having to run back ... you see where I'm going.)
  • watch a good film (either in the cinema with popcorn and your friends or comfy at home with a nice cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate, whichever one you prefer)
  • do some arty and creative stuff (draw, paint, write, do handicrafts ... there is so much you can do and the internet is a great inspiration)
  • do some tidying up or organize something (nice weather is a good excuse for not doing something you should actually be doing but once it's all wet and dull you have time to do that stuff. And anyway, sometimes you can find things you had been looking for for ages.)
  • read a book (always, always a good idea)
  • take a bath (very relaxing and we always have loads of bubble baths, bath salts and bombs we rarely use but should definitely use more often)
  • look at old photo albums (if you still have them. Or maybe go through photographs on your tablet, computer, whatever. Warning: can make you nostalgic.)
  • plan your next holidays (what could be better than dreaming of blue skies, good food and sandy beaches? okay, fine, there are things but it is pretty marvellous, don't you think?)
Well, there we are. Some pretty good ideas. I must say I am proud of myself. I didn't think I could come up with so many.
Au revoir, little biscuits (*shaking out my dripping hair*)
