I wrote lots and lots about my summer holidays in Somerset and Cornwall but I thought why not sum it up a bit to make it a little more ... structured.
Cornwall
-
- walk along the coast where the Cornish tin mine is
- visit St. Ives - many artists from all around the world paint the wonderful scenery of Pasty shops, fisher boats and the fascinating colour of the sea
- have a Cream Tea at least once
- have a Cornish Pasty at least once
- see the Steam Train in Launceston perhaps
- go to the Hurlers Stone Circles in Minions and climb up the stone hill
- go to Exeter - a beautiful city with lovely architecture, including the Cathedral but also perfect opportunities to get rid (ahem) of some of your money
- visit Wistman's Wood
- Port Isaac - it is very touristy but for a reason
- go on a coastal walk from Tintagel to Boscastle - the view is wonderful
Somerset
|
Port Isaac |
- go to Glastonbury - yeah, it's weird but it's definitely worth a peek
- go to Bath (and possibly visit the Roman Baths as well while you're there) - it's an absolutely beautiful city
- if you're into stones Stonehenge is a must of you but I warn you to not expect to much - even my mum who is into archaeology and even older history was a little disappointed. It's basically a waste of money. You can't even see them up close. (good for pictures though - then you don't get all these tourists in the pics^^)
- DON'T go to the Cheddar Gorge or try to find a way around the fees because it's way to expensive for a walk
And generally: go for lots of walks, try lots of regional food, go into a pub possibly, try to meet wonderfully friendly people and enjoy the cute cottages!
