Why you should ... read Obsidian

And I am usually NOT somebody who likes kitschiness which is somehow paradox because I read A LOT of kitschy books and partly enjoy them although I do have to roll my eyes nearly all the time. But anyway, what's this book about? You can guess.
Or you could just read what I write here although it is completely unnecessary because it is your average fantasy - YA book.
The ingredients for an average fantasy - YA book are:
- You have your somewhat shy but sarcastic heroine who is at first immune to the
- arrogant, condescending, impolite, mysterious but EXTREMELY good looking and sexy guy who
- hides something
- while strange events happen in the (little) town where our main character lives.
- This secret that the love interest keeps is usually something big and supernatural.
- Often, the main character has a strange family
- and finds out that she is somehow related to this magicalness or whatever you would like to call it.
- And of course, you have your villain(s) who try to take over the world and kill as many people as possible.
- Then there are those strange events where the love interest somehow saves our heroin in the last second
- and over the course of the story our heroin gets used to being special and although she probably vowed never to fall in love with that guy she does it anyway and it turns out that he has a pretty soft side.
- (and sometimes you have your obligatory more or less epic battles)
There we go. That's the whole story pretty much summed up as well as many other ones. This is not necessarily a point of criticism - there are many very good books written in that style and I have enjoyed many of them (including this one), it's just very difficult to find absolute uniqueness in this genre.
I really do hope this didn't sound too negative as this is a pretty good book and I read it in a day.
Btw, I took the German book cover because it was just so much prettier than the English one. I mean look at it.
